Tweed Coast NSW Destination Guide | Beaches, Headlands, Estuaries & Aerial Photography
The Tweed Coast of northern New South Wales is a spectacular stretch of coastline where long sandy beaches, volcanic headlands, estuaries, coastal vegetation and the Pacific Ocean create a diverse landscape for photography.
Located south of the Queensland border and extending through a series of coastal communities, the region includes Tweed Heads, Fingal Head, Kingscliff, Cabarita Beach, Hastings Point and Pottsville. The coastline is backed by the fertile Tweed Valley and dramatic volcanic landscapes, creating a distinctive connection between ocean, waterways and hinterland.
Fingal Head & Dreamtime Beach
Fingal Head is one of the Tweed Coast's most distinctive natural landmarks. Its basalt columns, rocky headland, lighthouse, surrounding vegetation and views towards the Pacific create particularly strong aerial compositions.
Nearby Dreamtime Beach provides a contrasting landscape of sweeping sand, ocean and coastal vegetation. From above, the relationship between the headland, beach and offshore waters becomes especially apparent.
Kingscliff & Cudgen Creek
Kingscliff combines a long sandy beach with a relaxed coastal village environment. Cudgen Creek adds another important landscape element, with winding waterways, tidal patterns, sandy banks and vegetation meeting the ocean.
Aerial photography reveals the contrast between the Pacific coastline, creek system and surrounding landscape, particularly in changing morning and afternoon light.
Cabarita Beach & Norries Headland
Cabarita Beach is recognised for its sweeping shoreline, surf and dramatic Norries Headland. The combination of beach, rocky coastline, vegetation and ocean creates a strong subject for landscape and aerial photography.
The coastline changes significantly with tides, weather and light, making the area visually different from one visit to the next.
Hastings Point & Pottsville
Further south, Hastings Point combines ocean coastline, rocky headlands and estuarine environments, while Pottsville provides a more natural coastal setting with beaches, waterways, wetlands and surrounding vegetation.
These areas demonstrate the variety of landscapes found along the Tweed Coast beyond the region's best-known beaches.
The Tweed Coast from Above
Aerial photography provides a broader perspective of the Tweed Coast, revealing patterns that are difficult to appreciate from ground level. Beaches, headlands, river entrances, estuaries, sandbars, coastal vegetation and offshore features form a connected landscape.
Changing tides, weather, sunrise and seasonal conditions can dramatically alter the appearance of the coastline.
Oz Straya Panoramas documents the Tweed Coast through original aerial photography, including Fingal Head, Kingscliff, Cabarita Beach, Hastings Point, Pottsville and surrounding coastal and hinterland landscapes.
