Lamington National Park Destination Guide
Lamington National Park is one of Queensland's most spectacular rainforest destinations, combining ancient subtropical rainforest, dramatic mountain escarpments, waterfalls, deep valleys and extensive wilderness.
Located in the Gold Coast Hinterland and forming part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, Lamington protects an internationally significant landscape with exceptional biodiversity and ancient rainforest ecosystems.
Green Mountains & O'Reilly's
The Green Mountains section on the western side of the Lamington Plateau is home to O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat and provides access to numerous rainforest walking tracks, waterfalls and mountain viewpoints.
The elevated landscape offers impressive views across rainforest-covered valleys and towards the surrounding Scenic Rim. Mist, cloud and changing light can transform the landscape, making the area particularly attractive for landscape photography.
Binna Burra
The Binna Burra section occupies the eastern part of Lamington National Park and provides another gateway into the park's rainforest and mountain landscapes.
Walking tracks lead through dense subtropical rainforest and towards spectacular viewpoints, waterfalls and valleys. The Border Track connects Binna Burra with Green Mountains and follows the elevated landscape between the two sections.
Waterfalls, Valleys & Rainforest
Waterfalls are an important feature of Lamington's landscape. Moran's Falls, Elabana Falls and Coomera Falls are among the region's best-known waterfalls.
The park's extensive walking-track network also provides access to rainforest streams, gorges, escarpments and ancient vegetation. Around 130 kilometres of formed walking tracks provide opportunities to experience the park at different levels of difficulty.
The McPherson Range
Lamington forms part of the McPherson Range, where elevated plateaus and dramatic escarpments rise above the surrounding Gold Coast Hinterland.
From above, the relationship between the rainforest-covered mountains, valleys and surrounding landscapes becomes particularly apparent.
