The Scenic Rim is one of South East Queensland's most spectacular natural regions, characterised by dramatic volcanic mountains, ancient rainforests, fertile valleys, lakes, farmland and historic country towns.

Located between Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Queensland–New South Wales border, the region forms part of an ancient volcanic landscape that creates a distinctive ring of mountains and valleys. The Scenic Rim is home to major national parks including Lamington, Main Range, Mount Barney, Moogerah Peaks, Tamborine and Mount Chinghee.

Mountains, Rainforests & Valleys

The Scenic Rim offers a remarkable combination of wilderness and productive rural landscapes. Mountain ranges rise above valleys containing farmland, rural communities and waterways, creating a distinctive relationship between agriculture and protected natural environments.

Boonah, Beaudesert and the Fassifern Valley provide important gateways to the surrounding mountain landscapes, while scenic viewpoints such as Carr's Lookout and Governor's Chair provide expansive perspectives across the region.

The region is also culturally significant, with Traditional Custodians including the Mununjali, Yugambeh and Ugarapul peoples maintaining longstanding connections to Country.
